Rutland Naturopathic Providers
Greg Burkland, NDGreg Burkland received his ND (Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine) degree from Bastyr University in 2006 and has been practicing naturopathic family medicine in Rutland ever since.
As a primary care physician, Dr. Burkland may utilize the same diagnostic tools and treatments as conventional medical doctors, but with a holistic approach to health and a preference for natural and less-invasive treatments when appropriate. He frequently uses herbs as part of a comprehensive treatment protocol, which may also include diet and lifestyle counseling, nutritional supplementation, and pharmaceuticals. Dr. Burkland is passionate about the therapeutic use of herbal medicines. After receiving his bachelor's degree in Biology from Duke University in 1997, he studied intensively through a 2 year apprenticeship with an herbalist/wildcrafter in the Piedmont and mountains of North Carolina. His fascination with plants, their therapeutic potential, and the wonder of human physiology led him to naturopathic medicine. |
Laurel Erath, NDDr. Erath is originally from New York and completed her bachelor's degree in general biology from Stony Brook University. In college she learned first hand about the link between nutrition and physical health. Due to an increasing interest in a holistic healthcare approach she graduated and pursued a naturopathic doctorate from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, Arizona. She then left Arizona to be closer to her family and completed the residency program at Champlain Center for Natural Medicine in Shelburne, Vermont.
Medical school and clinical practice deepened her knowledge of the human body and the relation between diet, lifestyle, and environment on long-term health. Dr. Laurel is mindful of the synergy of mental and physical health and individualizes care accordingly. She believes a good doctor-patient relationship should be based on respect, compassion, and shared decision-making. She specializes in the treatment of mental health imbalances and chronic diseases, including tick borne illness. She believes that by restoring the foundations of health, little by little the body is guided back into an environment where it can best heal itself. Her individualized treatment plans include nutrition, lifestyle changes, homeopathy, supplement recommendations, and/or botanical tinctures. She is grateful to be a part of each healing process, guiding patients through as many steps as needed to identify and treat the root cause of health concerns. |
